We watched while history was being made!
On Tuesday, January 20th, all of us ate an early lunch so that we could be back in class in time for Predident Obama's swearing in. To be part of history was so exciting!
Happy Birthday Martin Luther King, Jr.

Spelling Test!
We have started learning words for a spelling test! I gave the kids 5 words this week and have been showing them different ways to study for the words. We will take the test on Friday. Next week the words will come home and there will be 10 of them. These are words that they need to know how to spell and read. I did the words with them this week because I would like each child to take charge of their own learning and studying. Also, take advantage of the "Take a Spelling Test" on this blog.
This week's words: and, as, at, are, be
*They may seem easy enough, but the goal is to be second nature and transfer automatically to their writing everyday. Thanks!

Our New Star!
A Week of Winter Wonders!
We certainly knew how to get ready for the new year! Each day, together with our room moms, right after lunch we had 45 minutes of pure wonder. First we made gingerbread ornaments while enjoying milk and gingerbread cookies. Next we read fairy tales and decorated crowns and wands; then of course had to make up our very own fairy tales wearing our head pieces and using our wands(that is before we ate them! Isn't that a fairy tale all of its own? Eating a wand...hmmm) Ending our week of wonders was a great hour of creating stationary and putting everything together in a bag for our families to enjoy; then upstairs we went to meet our buddies. There we put together gift bags that we had decorated earlier in the week for people less fortunate than us. We stuffed the bags full of hot chocolate packets, tea bags, chocolates, and plenty of other goodies! What a great way to end a great week! Then...SNOW, SNOW, and more SNOW!
Off we went with snowman kits in hand knowing a snow day was in our forecast and the holidays around the corner...HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!
